Forensic accountants can be called upon to assist in a mediation or arbitration situation, (a process often referred to as Alternative Dispute Resolution or ADR). Forensic accountants are comfortable in this role due to their familiarity and comfort with the legal process and principals and the nature of the issues under dispute. An additional benefit of mediation and arbitration is the negating of the need for court appearances as well as the high cost and length of legal proceedings thus allowing the dispute to be resolved in a timely manner at a reduced cost to both parties. |
